Judy grew up and raised her family in various small towns in Saskatchewan and Alberta where volunteering was a way of life, whether it be for sports, culture, religion or politics. When she retired to Mazatlán after 25 years of practicing law in Canada, it was natural that she look for a way to get involved in her new community at a grass roots level.
She joined Friends of Mexico through which she taught English at a school in El Venadillo as a volunteer and was introduced to the hard-working Mothers taking care of the children at Ciudad de los Ninos. She also served on the Governors Committee for several years as the chair of the sub-committee of Health and Lifestyle, and as a consultant to the Medical Tourism Department at Hospital Sharp, Mazatlán.
Real magic happened when she met kindred spirit, Melinda Gebraad. Together they were able to conceive a project which allows others to share the joy of giving of themselves to worthy projects in their own back yards. With the artistic genius and generosity of Derek Mah, they are thrilled to present the opportunity to you in this website.
